The International Sigulda Opera Festival brings well-known international opera performers to celebrate the beauty of opera and music. Alongside to different concerts, the main opera performance on open-air staging and the magnificent gala concert is particularly awaited. The program for 2022 will be announced soon.

DAY 1, 25TH OF JULY: RIGA

Arrival in Riga. Have a private transfer to the hotel and check-in.
 
Enjoy a private guided walking tour through Riga Old Town (2hrs) and see the most remarkable sights like Dom Square with impressive Dom Cathedral. Stroll by the dwelling houses called the Three Brothers, which are preserved from 15th, 17th and 18th centuries. See the fortification walls with the Swedish Gate and the Powder Tower. Pass by Riga Castle the official residence of the Latvian President. Visit Town Hall Square with the Blackheads House built as a center for unmarried foreign merchants. See the St. Peter’s Church as proof of the great wealth of local citizens during the Middle Ages. The guide will introduce you to the intriguing story of the Cat House. The tour will pass the Latvian National Opera House and Freedom Monument – the symbol of independent Latvia.

DAY 2, 26TH OF JULY: RIGA - SIGULDA

Have breakfast at the hotel and check out. Enjoy an amazing private walking tour to Art Nouveau district (1,5hrs).
Riga is like a museum of architecture, covering periods from Gothic to Classicism. But the real treasure of the city is the largest and best-preserved collection of Art Nouveau buildings in the world. This fact was corroborated by UNESCO in 1997 and now the central section of Riga is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Riga is sometimes called the "capital" of Art Nouveau thanks to the heritage of 800 buildings of Art Nouveau.
The exteriors of the Art Nouveau buildings are imaginatively decorative and won`t leave guests incurious or without an opinion. During the sightseeing, the guide will show the most gorgeous examples of Art Nouveau and will point out three different sub-styles and their differences.

Have a free time for lunch.
At 13:30 Transfer to charming Latvian town Sigulda check in at the centrally located hotel in Sigulda and enjoy open-air opening concert of Sigulda Opera Festival concert “Festive Uverture” in the garden of Sigulda New Castle.

DAY 3, 27TH OF JULY: SIGULDA 

Have breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Sigulda town, Turaida castle and Gauja National Park (~5hrs, walking). The area around Sigulda town is known its more than 800 years old history where the ancestors of the Latvians had their wooden castles.   

Sigulda is a place where the beauty of nature is an integral part of the town. It is situated on a picturesque stretch of the Gauja River Valley and is known as the "Switzerland of Vidzeme" because of the reddish Devonian sandstone which forms rocks and caves on both banks of the river. Discover historic monuments, museums, natural objects and attractions like Sigulda New Castle, Livonian castle ruins, Turaida Medieval Castle built in 1214, the wooden church built in 1750, and a sculpture garden dedicated to Latvian folklore on Dainu Hill, Gutmanis Cave - the deepest internal erosion cave in the Baltic states, measuring 19m deep, 12m wide and 10m high, is not only a natural wonder, but also a place steeped in myths and legends.

An evening will be delighted by open-air opera by Giacomo Puccini "Tosca" at the yard of Livonian Order Castle ruins.

DAY 4, 28TH OF JULY: SIGULDA - CESIS - SIGULDA - RIGA

Have breakfast at the hotel.
Have a private tour to one of the oldest Latvian towns - Cesis (~5hrs). Rich in picturesque landscapes and reminders of the past, it embodies an intriguing sense of antiquity. The well-preserved medieval castle ruins in Cesis teach us about the medieval lifestyle in Latvia from the 12th to the 16th century. Have a guided sightseeing walk in Cesis, visiting the old stone castle of the Livonian Order built in 1206, as well as St.John’s Church, the beautiful Castle Park and historical squares of the town.
 
Heave a free time for lunch and return in Sigulda in the afternoon.
The evening will be dedicated for the open-air grand gala concert "From opera to operetta" at the foot of the Livonian Order Castle ruins.

DAY 5, 29TH OF JULY: RIGA

Have breakfast at the hotel. Check out and have a private transfer from hotel to Riga International Airport and departure.
