Christmas Markets in the Baltics

Christmas Markets in the Baltic States are opened from the first weekend in December till the first weekend in January.
DAY 1: VILNIUS
Arrive in Vilnius. Transfer to the hotel. Check-in.
Enjoy a guided private tour in historical Vilnius Old Town (1,5-2hrs), which is one of the largest in North-Eastern Europe. Visiting the most important sights like Cathedral Square with Dome Church and Clock-Tower, the St. Anne’s Church, Town Hall Square and Vilnius University, the Gates of Dawn with the holy image of the Virgin Mary. During the tour guide will show you the Gediminas Castle and Tower, and interesting Uzupis district. Vilnius is often called a Baroque city. However, the ruins of castles, narrow streets, church spires, bell towers, red tile roofs, residential cellars testify that Vilnius has massive influence from Gothic style. In the 16th century Gothic became intertwined with Renaissance, and in the 17th – 18th-century Baroque buildings started to appear.
Have an impression of Christmas Market in Vilnius, by visiting little stalls, lighted Christmas tree and warming up by the cup of hot wine.
During Christmas time there are usually three main locations of Capital Vilnius with a lot of special details. The first location is Cathedral Square where will stand 25 m high Christmas tree with lots of flashing lights, decorations, Christmas toys, and lighting of it is promising great entertainment. Also, at the Cathedral Square during December will be a seasonal Christmas town built, where visitors will be able to feast their eyes at hand-made pottery, glass products, jewelry and specially made sweets such as chestnuts, gingerbread or mulled wine as well as purchase Christmas presents, made by various craftsmen. The second location is City Hall Square where visitors also will see big, playful Christmas tree, decorated with renewed flashing cookies, pieces of orange and colorful candies. Also, The International Christmas Charity Fair will be held at City Hall and City Hall Square. Third location – Bernardinai Garden where visitors will see flashing and playing fountain, swinging carousel.

DAY 2: VILNIUS - RUNDALE - RIGA
Have breakfast at the hotel. Check out and have a private transfer to Riga, on the way visiting famous Rundale Palace which is one of the most visited sights in Latvia.
Rundale Palace, once the summer residence of the Duke of Courland Ernst Johann Biron, is one of the most outstanding monuments of Baroque and Rococo art in Latvia. Built from 1736 to 1740 the palace was designed by outstanding Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the creator of the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg. The splendid interior of the palace dazzled contemporaries. Crystal chandeliers, silk wallpaper, sculptures, luxuriously tiled fireplaces, mirrors, elegant galleries, and refined colors and frescos were made by Italian artists Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucci.
Have a free time for lunch at the Palace restaurant.
Arrive in Riga in the late afternoon and overnight.
DAY 3: RIGA
Have breakfast at the hotel.
A private walking tour (~1,5-2hrs) through Riga Old Town by seeing the most remarkable sights like St. Peter's Church with a famous rooster, St. Jacobs Church, Dom Square, and St. Dom Cathedral.
Have a moment of peace and enjoy the Christmas spirit with organ concert for 20 minutes in Riga Dom Cathedral, where is placed one of the largest organ in the world.
The Powder Tower and city walls will make you feel the breath of the medieval. The guide will show and tell you about the oldest stone residential dwellings in Riga - the Three Brothers, the Great and Small Guilds were the central homes of two wealthy families of tradesmen and craftsmen, the fortification wall of Riga with the Swedish Gate - the only surviving gate to be found. The guide will introduce you with an interesting story of Cat House and will show you Town Hall Square with beautiful and elegant Blackheads House, which will delight lovers of glory. The tour will take visitors to Riga Castle, which was founded in 1330 but today serves as the official residence of the President of Latvia, the building of Parliament, the Monument of Liberty and fantastic Opera House.
The guide will also tell You a story about the very first Christmas tree. The legend says that is was here – in Riga!
Old Town Christmas Market will ensure all those loving delicious traditional treats - mulled wine, gingerbread, roasted almonds, Christmas tea as well as delicious smoked meats and meat products. The Christmas Market will offer a wide range of Latvian handcraft for Christmas gifts - patterned mittens, skillfully turned wooden candlesticks, jarred sunny-smelling Latvian honey, sweet-smelling wax candles, handmade warm socks, hats and scarfs, amber and silver jewelry. A sweet and spiced hot wine will warm you up for another round in narrow cable streets of Riga Old Town.
Have an overnight in Riga.
DAY 4: RIGA - TALLINN
After breakfast in hotel check out and drive to Tallinn (4.5 hrs). Arrive in Tallinn and check-in.
Have free time for lunch and enjoy a private sightseeing (1,5-2hrs) in UNESCO heritage listed Tallinn’s Old Town with a town wall with 26 defense towers. During the tour exploring Holy Spirit Church, the 600 years old Gothic Town Hall, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the world`s oldest functioning Pharmacy on the Town Hall Square and the 159 meters high Oleveste Church which was the highest structure in the world in the 16th century. Visit the Toompea Hill which offers breathtaking views over the city. Toompea Castle, built in the 13th and 14th centuries, and which is the seat of the nation`s parliament.
Feel the real medieval ambience of Tallinn Old Town by having Christmas feast in medieval style restaurant. Have an overnight in Tallinn.
DAY 5: TALLINN
After breakfast check out. Have a free time for ice skating or Christmas Market visit. Take the last photos and to buy souvenirs. Transfer to Tallinn International Airport. Make a registration for international flight and departure.
