Ethnographic Open-Air Museum
The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia is located on the outskirts of Riga, near Lake Jugla. Founded in 1924, it is the oldest and at 97 ha the largest museum of its kind in Europe. Historic buildings, household items, work tools, and folk arts and crafts paint a picture of rural life in every region of Latvia from the 16th to the 20th century.
At the museum you can find out and learn about the history and development of crafts, technologies and traditions; experience the joy of dancing, singing, playing music and games; have a good time and meaningful day with your children, family, relatives and friends; observe and try out the old craft and taste the traditional food; relax and enjoy being in nature.
